Who answers these questions?
Viktor, the vocalist and Sebbe, the bassist
When and why Lethal Steel is formed?
Me (Viktor) and Leo (the drummer) had played together in various projects in the past. We’re both into old Swedish heavy metal and we were inspired to play such music ourselves, which is why we started Lethal Steel in 2011. We recorded our first three songs in the spring that same year, with me on vocals and Leo on drums, guitars and bass, however they were never released. Later that year we recruited Johan on guitars and Sebbe on bass. Johan took with him the drummer of his previous band (Exekutor) and with Leo we had a full line-up and recorded our 2012 demo. Since then Jesper quit to pursue other projects, Leo switched from guitars to drums and a guy called Jonte became our second guitarist.
Who designed your logo? Does it have any particular meaning?
Our friend Joel Gustafsson drew our logo for us, we gave him free hands so only he knows the meaning behind it.
Why making a Heavy Metal band?
We wanted to play heavy metal because we felt that the new scene has become a mix-up with the satanic themes of black metal and therefore we felt that we could contribute with something that barely exists anymore, heavy metal with the classic heavy metal sound.
About your demo. How was the process? Was it difficult?
We did mess up a couple of times and had to redo every recorded instrument at least partially. We had a lot of technical difficulties as well, but it worked out eventually.
How long did you take making this demo?
Because of our technical difficulties and having restricted access to the studio it took us several months (from early spring until May).
Where did you record it?
We recorded the demo in a place called Fryshuset in the south Stockholm.
How do you manage to distribute this demo?
We’re buying the cassettes ourselves, recording the demo manually and sending them out. At the moment we have a problem getting enough cassettes however.
Why did you release the demo on cassettes? Why not on CD?
We released the demo on cassette because we think it gives the music a more old school sound.
How hard is make all the work by yourselves?
We did have many technical problems as we mentioned earlier, but we also learned a lot since we had to solve every problem by ourselves.
What do you expect to receive in return for all this work?
Nothing really, we just hope people like it and that they will spread it to others as well.
Now that you’ve already released this demo, what are your next goals? What are your future plans?
We already have several new songs ready and more on the way, so we will most likely record a full length album next when we’re ready and have access to a studio. We also have some shows coming up in the next few months.
Thanks for everything! Do you have any final comment?
We love folköl.
